The Global Pandemic has radically reshaped how people think about work. Practically overnight, the world shifted its work model from 9-5 in the office to completely remote- an evolution that months before was unfathomable.

As the world recovers from this calamity, Governments and Industry alike are reformulating their work models for the future. Many organizations are moving forward with hybrid or work from anywhere models. This new flexibility revolutionizes how we all think about and perform work though it presents new challenges from a cyber security perspective- how to ensure that our work from anywhere workforce is protected in an age where cyber security attacks and threats seem to be ever increasing in number and complexity.

Speakers

Julia Scouten, Director, Joint Defence Cloud Program, Department of National Defence

Julia Scouten has over 21 years of experience within the Federal Government, including the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, Public Safety Canada, and also served in the Canadian Military for over 9 years. She is currently the Director for the Joint Defence Cloud Program at DND. Julia has 18 years in cyber security where she specialized in the coordination of the national response to serious cyber security incidents and she has represented Canada at various international cyber security engagements.

Matt Davies, Chief Technology Officer, Shared Services Canada

Matt Davies is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Shared Services Canada (SSC). The CTO Branch (CTOB) is an innovative, collaborative and customer-oriented organization which utilizes transformative technologies to deliver SSC’s Digital Technology Strategy in support of achieving a modern and secure digital government. He is focused on leveraging existing and emerging technologies to deliver on the SSC 3.0 vision towards an enterprise approach for all of government. This includes building a fast, reliable, and secure network and enterprise digital workplace platform for all that meets the needs of today and tomorrow. It also includes working with the SSC clients to support their application modernization efforts. As CTO, Matt is helping to shape SSC’s direction in providing world-class technology for the government.

Matt is a graduate from the University of Ottawa and has completed Executive Education programs at the Tuck School of Business and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has also completed the NACD's Cyber Risk Oversight program earning the CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight issued by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. In 2020, Matt received the CCISO Award, which recognizes an individual's outstanding work in information security, at the CISO Forum Canada 2020.

Raj Thuppal, Chief Service and Digital Officer, Transport Canada

Raj Thuppal is Transport Canada’s Service and Chief Digital Officer. He provides executive leadership and management direction for TC’s service modernization and digital services. In this key role, Raj leads the way we modernize programs and services that we deliver to Canadians. He is also Chief Information Officer and Chief Data Officer for the Department.

Dan Allen,VP, Entreprise Security Solutions, HP Inc.

With over 20 years of experience in technology and delivery of software services with a focus on virtualization, security, and application delivery, Dan Allen has a proven track record of delivering customer success. Dan joined HP as part of the Bromium acquisition in September 2019. Dan joined Bromium in 2015 where he had responsibility for all worldwide customer services. Prior to joining Bromium, Dan spent 13+ years at Citrix Systems as a lead architect and director on their Consulting Services team. Dan is still active writing technical whitepapers, blogs, and speaking at conferences on the subject of security and virtualization.
